Frequently Asked Questions about the 30 SECONDS Motorized Sprayer

"This is fantastic stuff.
We had mold on the bricks on the south side of our house. We tried using the power sprayer to remove it and it didn't even lighten the mold a bit. We tried a combination of Dawn and a scrub brush, along with the power sprayer, with absolutely no result so I went searching for a solution. While standing in the hardware store, I read the reviews on the available products and decided to give 30 Seconds a try. We bought the ready to use formula with the motorized power sprayer. The first sprayer didn't work and I have to admit, I considered getting my money back and starting with something else. I am so glad that I exchanged it instead.
We did a small test area and, per the instructions, kept it wet for 15 minutes. After 15 minutes, there was a visible improvement so we set off applying the 30 Seconds spray to the rest of the moldy bricks. After keeping it wet for 15 minutes, the bricks looked so much better than they have in years. We rinsed per the instructions and the results speak for themselves. One of the main reasons we chose this cleaner was that it was safe for plants and as you can see, we just finished planting some little bushes right in front of the area to be cleaned.

We will likely go over the area one more time but, in reality, we could leave it as it is and we would be the only ones who could tell there used to be mold. I highly recommend this product and will definitely keep it on hand for our exterior cleaning needs."

We’ve had a few phone calls about using our Motorized Sprayer, and thought it's time for a central location to answer all of your questions.

If your questions are about the Outdoor Cleaner, please see our FAQ page here. However, if you have a question about the battery powered sprayer itself, please read on. Not seeing an answer to your question? We would love to hear from you

Is this the same product as your original Outdoor Cleaner?

Yes! This is a ready-to-use formula, but still the same Outdoor Cleaner we’ve been manufacturing since 1977 to remove stains from Algae, Mold and Mildew.

What jobs is this ideal for?

The Motorized Sprayer is ideal for smaller jobs such as planters, bird baths, awnings, garden décor, stepping stones, tents, tarps, pool toys or furniture, outdoor furniture, awnings, children’s play equipment, head stones, or anywhere else that you need a fast, easy solution to outdoor clean up.

What sort of results can I expect from the sprayer?

Remember that this sprayer is a motorized version of a typical trigger sprayer, and will get the same approximate distance and coverage as a manually operated sprayer.

Why a motorized sprayer?

One joy of working so closely with our loyal customers is being able to hear their needs and offer a solution. Our motorized sprayer was created for customers that approached us with issues regarding carpal tunnel, arthritis, or other physical limitations that made it hard for them to repeatedly squeeze a trigger sprayer or even pump up a tank sprayer. The motorized sprayer is a tool that helps to have a similar stream and application of a traditional trigger sprayer, without requiring the physical demand on sore hand or wrist joints.

Are the batteries included?

Yes, this motorized sprayer is ready to go!

How much surface area will it cover?

The motorized sprayer comes with 1.3 gallons of ready-to-use Outdoor Cleaner. However, coverage varies depending on the porosity of the surface. In general, though, the power sprayer will cover up to 400 square feet. If you have a larger project, consider getting our concentrate. Click here for retailers.

The battery pack isn’t working, my sprayer doesn’t make any noise.

Typically, the protective tab that is placed between the battery and the connection is the culprit here. Make sure not only that the tab is removed, but also that it didn’t rip. Open the battery pack area and ensure that the whole tab has been removed.

I can hear the sprayer working, but nothing is coming out.

1) Ensure that the cord is in the product.

Sometimes the cord can remain coiled when up in the bottle. Take a moment to pull the cord straight and then make sure that the end of the cord is submerged in the cleaner.

2) Double check the cord for kinks above and below the lid.

Give the cord a firm pinch on both sides of the lid to remove a possible kink. While this is designed to be a ‘kinkless’ hose, issues can occasionally occur with shipping and storage. The main areas to check for kinks are where the hose attaches to the sprayer, or where the hose attaches to the cap.

3) Turn the Nozzle tip to allow spray

If you are getting a slow dribble, or even no product, this is a common culprit.

4) Set the bottle on the ground so that the sprayer is above it.

Instead of holding the bottle in one hand, and the trigger sprayer in the other, make sure that the bottle is down on the ground. This pulls the cord a bit more straight and allows the pump to pull up the liquid more easily

5) Allow 45-60 seconds to prime.

If all else has failed, then a little patience is all you need. You may notice an initial squirt of liquid, and then nothing. The motorized sprayers are tested to make sure they work, and that is where this initial bit of water comes from. From there it can take 45 seconds to “prime” the sprayer. Make sure that you hold down the sprayer handle for 45 seconds without stopping so that the pump can move the product through the hose completely. Once product starts pumping through, the sprayer should work continuously for at least the amount of time needed to apply all 1.3 gallons.

Where can I find the motorized sprayer?

Our motorized sprayers are available nationwide, check out our Store Locator and Online Retailers to find all of our 30 SECONDS products.

How does the motorized sprayer compare to the regular concentrate?

When it comes to efficacy, there is no difference in the power sprayer. However, this product is designed for those smaller jobs around the home. If you’re looking to clean a larger surface area, then you’d be better served getting our Pump Sprayer with a concentrate bottle, available in 1 gallon, 2.5 gallon, and 5 gallon sizes to match your job.

IS THERE ANY CLOROX OR ANY OTHER CHEMICAL THAT WOULD EVENTUALLY HARM CANVAS AWNING

Jessica Merly

June 12, 2017

Thank you for your question, Logan.

30 SECOND Outdoor Cleaner contains Sodium Hypochlorite, which is safe to use on most outdoor surfaces, including awnings. That being said, it is always in your best interest to test in a small, inconspicuous area any time you’re cleaning a new surface. Simply apply a few drops of cleaner and allow to sit about 5 minutes, then rinse away to test for result.
Here is a link to our blog post about cleaning awnings. https://30secondscleaners.com/blogs/blog/17853979-clean-your-awnings-with-30-seconds-outdoor-cleaner
Cheers!

I have used 30seconds cleaner before and like the results. Today tried your motorized power sprayer. It worked well for a while, but it quit after doing a 4×5 ft. area of my deck. I checked the batteries, and even replaced them, but the motor makes no noise. Yes, the switch is on.
I don’t think I can even properly clean the nozzle.
Any suggestions?

July 19, 2017

Thank you for reaching out, Vivian. That is odd, we haven’t heard that issue before! Give us a call, 503-669-1953, and lets see if we can’t figure out what’s going on. Cheers!

Good question, Danny! We are not sure exactly how well 30 SECONDS Cleaners will work on stains from a fertilizing product we haven’t tried it for that specific application before. Give it a try and let us know how it goes. Make sure you test first by applying a bit of cleaner to the stain, letting it sit a few minutes, and rinsing.

Can it be used on compressed wood siding before painting if rinsed well ?

Jessica Merly

August 29, 2017

Hello Debra,

Yes, 30 SECONDS Outdoor Cleaner can be used safely on most all siding, and will leave you with a spotlessly clean surface ideal for painting on afterwards.

We always recommend you test in a small area first. Simply apply, let sit for 5 minutes, and then rinse away to see results.

For a job as large as your siding, you may want to consider getting some concentrated gallons instead of the ready-to-use motorized sprayer.

Please let me know if we can get you any more information, or see our Store Locator to find retailers in your area. Cheers!

I have used 30 seconds previously on my siding and awnings and it works great. This year we added an aggregate patio, therefore when I clean the siding and awnings the 30 seconds will run onto the aggregate patio – will it hurt the aggregate patio?

Jessica Merly

September 18, 2017

Hello Gloria,
First, thank you for your words of praise for 30 SECONDS Outdoor Cleaner.
While 30 SECONDS should be just fine on your aggregate patio, you can and should play it safe by testing in a small, inconspicuous area first.
Typically, our concern would be more along the lines of clean streaks on the patio. However, since this is a new one, it probably isn’t too dirty. If you do end up with uneven, clean streaks, simply clean the patio with 30 SECONDS, too.
We would love to see Before and After pictures if you have taken any! Cheers!

Can I use this product on the screens in my pool enclosure? Will it hurt the pool water if it drips into the water?

Jessica Merly

September 28, 2017

Hello Melody,

We always recommend testing in a small, inconspicuous area when using on a new surface. Simply apply, let sit for about 5 minutes, and then rinse away to see results.

Do your best to rinse away from the pool, though we understand run off and dripping can and will occur. Test the pH after cleaning to ensure proper levels.

Thank you for your question. Cheers!

I love 30 second but I did not have a good experience with the motorized sprayer. I finally poured the chemical into my pump sprayer and used it from there. I am afraid to try another one.
Can you suggest a pump sprayer that can spray with enough velocity to reach higher than a regular pump sprayer? Maybe a battery operated one?
Thanks for your help.

Jessica Merly

December 13, 2017

Hello George,
Thank you for reaching out to us about your experience. We are delighted you love 30 SECONDS Cleaner, and are so sorry that you had issue with the sprayer. We will reach out to you directly about this. To answer your question, we do have a hose end sprayer rolling out in 2018, that will reach up to the 2nd story. We are very excited to see this on the market. It should be on store shelves in early spring. You can use our store locator to find a retailer in your area.

Can I use this product to clean my pool enclosure and screening.

Jessica Merly

March 30, 2018

Great question, Charles! We do always recommend that you test when using 30 SECONDS Outdoor Cleaner on a new surface for the first time. To do this, apply a few drops to a small, inconspicuous area, let sit about 5 minutes, and then rinse to see results. Feel free to contact us directly if you have more questions, we’d love to help. Our house is walkout, with stained deck that is off our kitchen door and 8 feet above ground. Below the deck is oil stained cedar shaked siding and sliding glass doors. There is a concrete patio under the deck. Will the 30 second cleaner damage the siding below the deck, or the patio as the cleaner drips through the deck flooring?

Jessica Merly

April 27, 2018

Hello Bob,

30 SECONDS Outdoor Cleaner is safe to use all all these surfaces, however it can leave some clean streaks if allowed to run down, creating an uneven look that you most likely will not be pleased with. Give us a call, so we can discuss the specifics and guide you through your project. 503-669-1953.

Want make sure that the 30 second cleaners is safe to use on my camper.

Jessica Merly

May 14, 2018

Hi Becky,

Great question about using 30 SECONDS on your camper. It may not be easy to tell, but one of the pictures above is from a customer that used it on their whole RV, including the awning. For your camper, or any new surface being cleaned for the first time, we like to recommend testing first. Apply a small amount to an inconspicuous area, let set about 5 minutes, and rinse to see results.

It is almost June, is that new hose sprayer out yet ? Will it be on the ready to use or will you have to mix concentrate up in a spray bottle ?

Jessica Merly

May 22, 2018

Yes, Machelle! The new 64oz Hose End Attachment is available. It comes filled with our Outdoor Miracle Formula and mixes in the bottle. Give us a call, 503-669-1953, we will help you find a retailer in your area.

Troy Herring

June 11, 2018

Can you tell me about that hose sprayer for the 2nd story. I tried your cleaner on stucco and the stucco looks like new. The 2nd story is hard to reach. Im also curious if 30 second cleaner HAS to be rinsed off the stucco. Will it cause any permanent damage or bleaching if left unrinsed?

Jessica Merly

June 11, 2018

Hello Troy,
It is important to rinse 30 SECONDS Outdoor Cleaner otherwise the dirt and grime will simply stay on the surface and will not give you the clean you’re looking for. The good news is, the hose end attachment will reach up to the second story, no problem! Just be sure to removed the red fan from the sprayer to get the extended reach. Happy cleaning.

Is 30 seconds cleaner safe to use on automobile paint and fiber glass boat surfaces?

Jessica Merly

June 22, 2018

Hello Chris,

We think it is always best to test when cleaning a new surface for the first time. Apply a small amount to an inconspicuous area, let sit about 5 minutes, and then rinse to see results. That being said, we have great before and after pictures from customers using us on vehicles and fiberglass. Test first, and then share your before and after pictures, too!

Is it pet friendly. I am looking to clean my part patio and need a cleaner that is not harmful

Jessica Merly

June 25, 2018

Hi Susan,
Once a surface is dry, it is safe for your pets to be on it. If they do get cleaner on their paws or claws, just give them a rinse same as you would your hands. Cheers!
